I create a safe space where we work together to break difficult patterns, allowing (self-)satisfaction, calm, and well-being to return.
What is an eating disorder?
An eating disorder is rarely just about food. It is a mental illness characterized by an unhealthy and compulsive relationship with food, body image, and weight. For example, it can manifest as either eating far too much or avoiding eating altogether.
The condition is often closely linked to:
• Distorted body perception: Not seeing one’s body realistically.
• Difficult emotions: Thoughts regarding identity, self-esteem, and control taking up too much mental space.
• Excessive worry: Spending a vast amount of energy worrying about meals and weight.
Several different forms
“Eating disorder” is an umbrella term for several conditions that can affect people who are underweight, of normal weight, or overweight. Symptoms vary depending on the specific type, but common to all are psychological signs such as dissatisfaction with oneself, a distorted body image, and an extreme need for control.
This places a severe strain on the body and well-being, increasing the risk of serious illness.
